Posted on June 13, 2025

Brochure released by Dr. P. Sivananda, Orthopaedic Department HOD, KGH Hospital

KIMS Hospital and North Andhra Orthopedic Association to host the event on Sunday

KIMS Hospital in collaboration with the North Andhra Orthopaedic Association and the Vizag Arthroscopic Association is set to host a one-day orthopedic Conference at Four Points by Sheraton hotel on June 15, 2025, focusing on Knee Meniscus injuries, their long-term implications, and the latest minimally invasive arthroscopic treatments.

Event is conducted under the chairmanship of Dr. P. Sivananda, Orthopaedic Department HOD, KGH Hospital and Andhra Medical College.
Event organizing team including Dr. Srinivas Gollangi, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar Reddy and Dr. Santosh Ram Gaddam have shared the details on Thursday.

The symposium will bring together over 150 orthopedic surgeons from across Andhra Pradesh. The event aims to enhance awareness among both orthopedic professionals and the general public about early diagnosis and effective management of knee-related injuries.

Leading orthopedic specialists from cities such as Ahmedabad and Coimbatore will share their expertise on cutting-edge techniques and technological advancements in arthroscopic surgery.
Knee ligament and meniscus injuries often go unnoticed in the early stages, especially in young individuals who may not recognize the seriousness of sports injuries, road accidents, or even simple falls. However, if left untreated, these injuries can lead to accelerated wear and tear of the knee joint, resulting in premature osteoarthritis and long-term mobility issues.

The symposium will include discussions and live demonstrations on how arthroscopy—a minimally invasive surgical technique—can effectively treat internal knee damage. Experts will also cover modern innovations such as Meniscal Transplants, Cartilage repair techniques, and more.

Speaking ahead of the event, medical experts Dr. Srinivas Gollangi, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar Reddy and Dr. Santosh Ram Gaddam emphasized, “Due to poor lifestyle habits, obesity, and increasing involvement in recreational sports without proper preparation, ligament and meniscus injuries have become common even among people in their 20s and 30s. Prompt treatment can prevent chronic pain and permanent joint damage.”
