Posted on June 12, 2025

In a significant step toward promoting liver health and early detection of liver diseases, Aster Prime Hospital has launched a specialized Liver Clinic on the occasion of Global Fatty Liver Day 2025.

The initiative comes in response to the alarming rise in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which now affects nearly one-third of the adult population in India. Dr. Srujan Kumar B, Lap& General surgeon comment that Fatty Liver is often called a “silent disease,” because it typically shows no symptoms in its early stages but can lead to serious complications such as cirrhosis, liver failure, and even liver cancer if left undiagnosed.

Dr. Chetan Mahajan, Sr Surgical Gastroenterologist also said that The Global Fatty Liver Day 2025 theme is “Elevating Liver Health in the Metabolic Health Conversation”, which is important in considering liver health alongside other metabolic health issues like obesity and diabetes. Aster Prime Hospital, one of Hyderabad’s premier healthcare providers, has launched specialized Liver Care and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) clinics on International Fatty Liver Day.
