Ambuja Cements Supports Special Olympian Aditya Kaushal’s Journey from Special Needs Student to International Athlete

Posted on August 26, 2025

Editor’s Synopsis:

·         Aditya Kaushal, a student of Ambuja Manovikas Kendra (AMK), represented India in snowshoeing at the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 in Turin, Italy.

·         On 15 August 2025, he was a special invitee of the Ministry of Defence and Sports Authority of India at the Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort, New Delhi.

·         At the District Independence Day Ceremony in Punjab, Aditya received the Best Sportsperson (Differently Abled Male) award, alongside two other AMK achievers.

·         His journey reflects Ambuja Cements’ commitment to nurturing sporting talent and creating equal opportunities through school sports programmes.

Ambuja Cements, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, through CSR initiatives, celebrates the inspiring journey of Special Olympian Aditya Kaushal, a young athlete whose determination reflects the Company’s commitment to inclusion through education and sport. A student of Ambuja Manovikas Kendra (AMK) in Ropar, Punjab, Aditya overcame physical and intellectual challenges to earn a place in India’s contingent for the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 in Turin, Italy. There, he achieved 4th place in the 200m, and 6th place in the 100m snowshoeing events.

His success story continued on Independence Day 2025, when Aditya, representing Special Olympics Bharat–Punjab, was invited as a special guest by the Ministry of Defence and the Sports Authority of India to witness the national celebrations at the Red Fort, New Delhi, as part of a 49-member delegation of Special Olympics athletes.

Aditya’s transformation began in 2017, when he joined AMK, a school for special needs children. Through personalised therapy, structured sports training, and emotional support, he evolved from a withdrawn teenager into a confident, disciplined sportsperson who excelled at national-level championships and has gone on to earn his place on the world stage.

His recognition further extended during the District Independence Day Ceremony in Ropar, where Hon. Punjab Finance Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema and the Deputy Police Commissioner, Ropar awarded three AMK representatives. Ms. Shallu Sharma was recognised as ‘Self-Employed Differently Abled Female’, Mr. Hardeep Singh for ‘Self-Employed Differently Abled Male’, and Aditya as ‘Best Sportsperson (Differently Abled Male)’ for his participation in the World Winter Special Olympics. The dignitaries lauded Ambuja Cements’ CSR arm for its inclusive initiatives.

Aditya’s journey exemplifies Ambuja Cements’ broader mission to nurture sporting talent and create equal opportunities through after-school sports programmes, Khel Mahotsavs, specialised training at AMK, and partnerships with Special Olympics Bharat, ensuring that every deserving student, regardless of ability, has the chance to shine.
