Ambuja Cements establishes nutrition centres in Bathinda villages to strengthen community health awareness

Posted on October 9, 2025

EDITOR’S SYNOPSIS

·         Ambuja Cements, under its CSR initiatives, set up nutrition centres to address rising NCD risks among women in Mehma Sawai.

·         Centres offered diet education, kitchen garden support, and regular health activities.

·         Community engagement grew through events, street plays, and door to door outreach.

Ambuja Cements, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, as part of its CSR initiatives, has strengthened health education in Bathinda’s Mehma Sawai village through the establishment of a dedicated nutrition centre. This initiative formed part of a larger effort to prevent and manage non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and hypertension through local, community-based interventions.

With limited access to formal healthcare in the area, the centre offers a convenient, village-level solution to health education. Led by a trained health volunteer, the space conducts awareness sessions, kitchen gardening demonstrations and personalised counselling. From door-to-door outreach and seed distribution to street plays and small events, the initiative sparked local curiosity and increased participation.

Over time, the centre became a familiar and trusted space, especially for women, to learn about early warning signs of disease, balanced diets and the importance of regular activity. It empowered families to make informed choices using resources that were previously out of reach.

Ambuja Cements has now established nine such nutrition centres across Bathinda, encouraged by this success. Each centre helps make preventive health knowledge a shared community asset, ensuring that every household is equipped to take small, sustainable steps toward better wellbeing.
