EDITOR’S SYNOPSIS

·         Ambuja Cements as part of its CSR has facilitated 4 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in Himachal Pradesh empowering 1122 farmers, including 533 women.

·         FPOs collectively facilitate better market access for dairy and high-value crops, boosting rural incomes.

·         ₹2.52 crore turnover achieved in FY 2024-25 through collective efforts.

Ambuja Cements, the 9th largest building materials solutions provider globally and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, is transforming the livelihoods of small farmers through CSR efforts with the support of NABARD by facilitating the establishment of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). These FPOs, across Darlaghat, enable farmers to collectively sell their produce, eliminating middlemen, securing better market prices, and increasing their earnings.

Through this initiative, four FPOs and one dairy cooperative have been formed, benefitting 1122 farmers, including 533 women, across villages in Solan district. By leveraging modern agricultural techniques, bulk procurement, and collective bargaining power, these farmer groups have improved productivity and profitability. The direct market linkages established through FPOs have resulted in a ₹2.52 crore turnover in FY 2024-25, reflecting a significant increase in farmers’ incomes and financial stability.

Ambuja Cements continues to drive farmer empowerment by offering training, financial literacy, and advanced farming practices, ensuring long-term sustainability. By strengthening rural economies and fostering self-reliance, the initiative is paving the way for a more stable and prosperous future for farming communities in Himachal Pradesh.
