EDITOR’S SYNOPSIS
· Adani Foundation supported Bhagywati Devi with solar irrigation and trellis farming techniques
· Her income increased by ₹6,000 per month through better crop yield and water access
· The initiative enabled sustainable farming and inspired resourceful land use among rural farmers
ACC, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, along with the Adani Foundation, is supporting climate-resilient farming in rural areas like Chhatatand by introducing sustainable irrigation and innovative cultivation methods. This intervention is helping farmers overcome challenges linked to erratic rainfall and low productivity.
Bhagywati Devi, a 47-year-old mother of three, was one of twenty farmers who got help from the Foundation’s solar irrigation project started in 2024. Earlier, she had to depend on rain or costly diesel pumps for water. But with the new solar system, she started getting regular water for her fields. This helped her grow better crops, work less in the fields, and earn more money—around ₹6,000 extra every month. It gave her family much-needed relief from financial stress.
She also received support for trellis farming, a method used to grow creeper vegetables in a neat and space-saving way. This helped her use her land better, grow more vegetables, and earn more. These changes made her feel more confident and respected in the community.
By bringing simple and useful farming tools to rural areas, ACC is helping small farmers like Bhagywati build better lives. Her story shows how the right support can improve both farming and the future of rural families—one field at a time.
